Why we (and by extension you) don’t pay for fancy offices

Can I rant for a minute?

I’ve worked in marketing and design agencies for over 25 years. What I saw behind the curtains made me believe that most agencies are driven by vanity. They had very nice offices, gleaming floors, beautiful furniture, and downtown locations. In other words, expensive!

Who pays for all of this? The client does.

I saw the money that could have gone towards research, creative development, and market understanding getting squandered on rent, cleaning, and maintaining a space which most employees would love to leave behind.

Who benefits? The vanity of the agency’s owners, who are 99% of the time the only ones who care.

At Audacious, the entire team works remotely. All of us.

Also, our PR and Research partner agencies work remotely; it’s a culturally easy fit that way. Today’s online tools and good processes (so important) make this simple and incredibly effective. We get together in person when it’s needed or just for a coffee when we feel like it.

Here’s the truth: You don’t come up with great insights whilst sniffing fumes in traffic on the highway. An extra hour spent working or rejuvenating your mind and body is more effective than staring at traffic on the road.

Also, when hiring remotely, we get more great people to choose from.

So there you have it. All the money you’re spending with us goes towards your project. Not elevator upkeep, water cooler rental or vanity furniture. Doesn’t that feel good?
