“An Air Fryer is just a convection oven with good PR” is still one of my favourite lines, but boy, are they driving sales in a category that had been stale for quite some time – frozen snacks – and by a consumer group that has traditionally stayed away from frozen, millennials and younger.
Air Fryers sales are still growing in Canada and people are looking for food to prepare in their new appliance.
Many consumers looked at frozen food and snacks for the first time and discovered a multitude of products they liked, driving discovery and sales.
Google trends data for consumer interest in Air Fryers- the small peak is Canadian Thanksgiving ????, the large peak is the winter holiday season ????
How to profit from this knowledge as a food manufacturer or marketer:
- If your product, frozen or otherwise, can be prepared with an Air Fryer, call this out on the packaging. Air Fryers aren’t going anywhere.
- If recipe creation is part of your social or other content, include Air Fryer recipes.
- Air Fryers have a health halo, due to the reduced need for oil. See if you can call this out in your communications.
